Residency Requirements
In order to be considered a resident for tuition purposes, students must have established their residence in California for more than one year. They must couple their physical presence in California with objective evidence of intent to make California their permanent home. Physical presence in the State solely for educational purposes does not constitute establishment of California residence regardless of length of stay. If you intend to establish residency in California, obtain information regarding requirements for your particular case immediately upon arrival.
For the Davis campus, only the Residence Deputy is authorized to provide the final decision on residence regulations. Written information can be found in the UCD General Catalog and in other publications available from the Residence Deputy. Contact the Residence Deputy in the Office of the Registrar, University of California, Davis, 124 Mrak Hall, (530) 752-0879.
