Born into a humble farming family in Nepal, Dipti grew up being passionate about agriculture and pursued an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Science. She then spent two years working with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), an international intergovernmental organization, in a project focused on building climate resilience of farmers in Madhesh Province, the most climate-vulnerable region in Nepal. Dipti describes her move to Madhesh Province as life-changing, offering her a mix of new experiences—a different place, language, culture, and ways of life. It brought both the best and worst moments, the most remarkable and challenging people, and invaluable lessons in agricultural development, climate change, and working with skilled professionals who inspired her every day.
Dipti now aims to build on this experience by pursuing a master’s degree in International Agricultural Development at UC Davis. This will help her develop the skills needed to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate agricultural development programs. Working as a Graduate Student Researcher at USDA California Climate Hub, she wants to understand how to measure the impacts of climate change on agriculture, with the goal of supporting informed decision-making and developing effective solutions.
In her free time, Dipti loves to travel and enjoys hiking, trekking, camping, and biking. She feels most alive by lakes, hills, and mountains, or lying on green grass. She sketches to soothe her mind and reads novels and non-fiction to comfort her heart. If she’s not doing any of those things, she’s probably mastering the art of napping.
